Analyst Relations, Caught on Camera (from the series: The IT Analyst Gallery)
Personally, I don’t think the IT Analyst Gallery would be complete without a photo or two of some AR professionals; this one shows two of CA’s gracious AR team. The job of AR is pretty much akin to herding feral cats with a feather duster. If an analyst writes something unfairly negative about your CEO, company or products, the best you can do is call them up, talk sweetly and mention how disappointed you are. Then at some point later in the year you’ll probably hold an analyst get together and invite the unruly feral crowd to some hotel that wouldn’t normally accept such a rag-tag bunch of reprobates.
This clutch of ne’er-do-wells will undoubtedly include one or two of those unreasonable poisoned pens who are immune to persuasion of any kind but just had to be invited so that they could have one more opportunity to misunderstand the message. At least it’s then possible to closely observe them as they get on with writing their blogs while they’re supposed to be listening to presentations.
